Passive RFID in Healthcare

It seems as though every time I read about using RFID asset tracking in a healthcare environment active RFID tags are used. Therefore, one almost automatically assumes active RFID tags have to be used in a healthcare environment in order to achieve the desired outcome. Perhaps it is because many of the assets that need to be tracked are metal and may require metal mount RFID tags or maybe it is because of the types of conditions the tags may endure and passive tags aren't considered harsh environment RFID tags. Any way you look at it active RFID tags are not the only answer and our latest RFID case study from Texas Tech Health Sciences Center and Radiant RFID proves it.

Using Radiant RFID's Virtual Asset Tracker solution and Metalcraft RFID Tags administrators at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center are now able to track over 1,500 mobile assets throughout their 13,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility.
