Access control applications have emerged as an extremely viable option for radio frequency identification technology (RFID).What amazes me even more are all of the potential customer for these access control applications and the wide variety of industries they represent. For example, car washes were an early adopter with us using this technology. I have previously written about one of our customers using RFID as part of a loyalty/subscription program - both allowing customers access and tracking the number of times they have used the service.

Another case study I have discussed more recently on this blog involves allowing access to a waste disposal site. In this case RFID was used to make sure only those who should have access were being allowed into the site. As you can see in both of these applications access control is only one aspect of the application. Information in the database tied to the number programmed into the RFID inlay provides valuable information about the customer beyond just allowing them access. Gated communities have also emerged as ideal candidates using RFID technology.

Parking applications are yet another area where access control using RFID makes sense. The list goes on and on...and as an RFID converter we have more and more end users and integrators coming to us with potential new uses for our access control RFID tag. It is exciting to see this continue to develop and figure out how to maximize this opportunity for our customer. Access control using RFID technology has a very bright future and we truly believe this is only the beginning!
