Groundbreaking Ceremony: Metalcraft Relocation Puts Focus on Customers

For over 50 years, we at Metalcraft have called 149 4th St. our home. Our three-story manufacturing facility has seen many ups and downs, including an ownership change in 2006 and a record-breaking flood in 2008. But on Wednesday, October 3, 2012, Metalcraft broke ground at the site of what will be our new home on the west side of Mason City.

On that day, as we stood with many of our city council members, retirees, shareholders and friends, we recognized that although change may not always be welcome within a workforce, it is much needed for us here at Metalcraft. As a company, we have grown a lot over the last 50 years and we feel this is the best way to acknowledge our growth.

The construction of this 46,000 square foot facility will mark the beginning of a new chapter for us as we continue to grow to meet the needs of our customers and member-owners. It will allow us to have a more efficient office and production layout, which will save us time and give us more opportunities to take care of our customers. In addition, it will allow us room for future growth and development as we stay on the cutting edge of identification solutions and technology.

In the 11 months leading up to our big move, we will be making preparations and looking back on the building that has seen us grow from a small nameplate manufacturer with only one product line - "AUTOGRAPHS" - to a worldwide identification solutions company offering products like RFID, bar code and laser systems. It will no doubt be bittersweet, but we are excited for the opportunity to open a new chapter and see where it will lead us in the future.
