A few weeks ago, Metalcraft had the opportunity to attend the ProMat® Material Handling trade show from Jan. 21-24. Held at McCormick Place in Chicago, Ill., ProMat® is a large showcase of material handling, supply chain and logistics solutions. The show is designed to offer productivity solutions and information by showcasing the products and services of leading material handling and logistics providers.
Show attendees included manufacturing, distribution and supply chain professionals from the United States, Canada, Mexico and an estimated 100+ countries from around the world. Some of the items on display at this show included, but were not limited to:
1. Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems
2. Personnel/Burden Carriers
3. Palletizing Equipment
4. Voice Recognition Systems
5. RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) Systems
6. Bar Code Printers and Scanners
There were four attendees representing Metalcraft, and we were also able to bring our Benchtop Laser System to have on display along with all of our standard product offerings. We were able to gain an exceptional interest in our barcode technology from the forklift/material handling audience. Many OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) expressed interest in trying to initiate a change in their organization to incorporate barcode technology into their processes. Many of them are currently using a printed plate with serial numbers or other information stamped on it, but are trying to gain corporate approval for system changes.
Overall, Metalcraft had a great experience at the show. We were able to generate a number of different leads by walking the show floor, and we were also able to gain great insight into a market with substantial interest in our products.
