I just returned from a short vacation after having attended RFID Journal LIVE! in Orlando last week. This was our third year exhibiting at the show and, although the attendance appeared to be lower than in the past, we really felt it was our best show yet. One reason was because we officially debuted our two newest RFID products - the Universal RFID Asset Tag and the Universal RFID Hard Tag. The concept behind both products is that regardless of the surface you will get an excellent read range - metal, plastic or even wood - it doesn't matter! This is truly unlike any other metal mount RFID tags. Both products were very well received and have already started garnering some press (see article from RFID Switchboard). We are excited to see the impact these products will have on RFID asset tracking applications especially in environments where a harsh environment RFID tag is required. We played the video below in our booth to show attendees who stopped by exactly what our Universal RFID Tags are, what they can do, and why that might be useful information for them to know. Check it out and see for yourself!
Another reason we felt it was a great show was because of the obvious evolution of understanding when it comes to RFID. I think everyone I talked to had an actual RFID application in mind instead of just wanting information about RFID in general. Besides that, the applications people were talking about were totally feasible RFID applications. It just shows how far we have come!
In addition to our Universal RFID Tags, other products we exhibited also received their fair share of attention. Access control, for example, continues to be a very hot market for us and our RFID Windshield Tags and Rearview Mirror RFID Tags are ideal for access control and vehicular tracking applications. This was no more evident to me that when I got into my rental car after the show to head off to the beach and I saw one of our very own RFID Windshield Tags on the windshield of the rental car. How cool was that? I always get a kick out of seeing Metalcraft nameplates and labels in "the real world" - now I get to start pointing out our RFID products too!
